Tommaso Rocchi says he’s convinced that new club Inter will finish ahead of former club Lazio in Serie A this season.

The veteran will undergo his medical later today ahead of his January switch, before putting pen to paper on a Nerazzurri contract.

Although Lazio are currently second in the standings, Rocchi believes that the San Siro giants – two places and one point behind them right now – will overtake them.

“I’m certain that we’ll finish the season in second, hopefully just ahead of Lazio,” the 35-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“Moving to Inter is an important decision for me. I’ll always remain closely tied to the guys in the Curva, but I have a desire to play football.

“I wasn’t even the vice-Klose at Lazio. Seeing as I have not played a lot at all this season, I needed a change of scenery.”

Rocchi, formerly of Empoli, has featured in only 163 minutes of Serie A action across three appearances for Lazio this term.
