Marco Rigoni sent a goodbye message to his “family” at Novara after completing the move to Chievo. “I will never forget.”

The midfielder was loaned to the Flying Donkeys for a season with the option to make the switch permanent.

“With my heart I thank those who over these splendid three years have given me the happiest seasons of my playing career,” he wrote.

“I will not forget any of the faces of those people who worked with me and with whom I shared deep joy and difficult moments, but above all that allowed us to change the recent history of the club and its city.

“I thank Novara Calcio for having allowed me to experience all this. Today I must thank the fans and friends at Novara who never let me be without their affection and support.

“Joyous experiences like winning the play-offs are priceless. They remain unique and will unite us forever.

“I salute you with a virtual embrace, aware that professionally we may be taking different paths, but my second family will always be YOU.”

Rigoni impressed so much for Novara with 11 goals and eight assists last season that some called for his inclusion in Italy’s Euro 2012 squad.
