Franck Ribery’s continued struggles with a back injury are understood to be putting his participation at the World Cup under increasing doubt.

The Bayern Munich man has been named in France’s final 23-man squad for this summer’s tournament, which sees Les Bleus come up against Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras in Group E.

However, reports continue to scrutinise on the fact that the 31-year-old is still struggling to shake off the effects of a persistent back injury.

Having missed France’s 4-0 win over Norway last week altogether and only been an unused substitute in Sunday’s draw with Paraguay, the winger is still unable to take a full part in training sessions.

The France Football Federation are believed to have set Ribery a deadline to recover, but are expected to wait as long as they can for him to prove his fitness.

Remy Cabella and Alexandre Lacazette are seen as the players on standby to come in should France opt against including Ribery.

Any decision can be held off until as late as June 14, the day before Didier Deschamps’ men face Honduras in their first tournament match.
