The Portugal international is having his medical in London this afternoon, as confirmed by Hammers manager David Moyes.
Originally, the idea was to sign him on loan to the end of the season with an option to buy for circa €35m.
However, the latest reports coming out of Italy are that the deal is purely a six-month loan at a cost of €1.1m.
West Ham will also cover Joao Mario’s salary for five months, but have no option to make the move permanent.
Inter paid €40m plus bonuses to take the 25-year-old from Sporting CP in August 2016, just a couple of months after he took part in the squad winning the European Championship.
