According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Beneamata and Kovacic have now put pen to paper on a new agreement, warding off reported interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The newspaper says the deal will see Kovacic’s salary rise to €2m per season from €1.5m, and tie the former Dinamo Zagreb to the club until 2019, with the youngster’s current contract due to end in 2017.

Gazzetta also reports that the contract will include substantial bonuses should Inter qualify for the Champions League or win the Scudetto. In another coup for the Nerazzurri, the sports daily also claims that no release clause will be inserted in the agreement.
