Inter are reportedly pushing on with plans to sign Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella.

According to Sport Mediaset, Inter are ready to see out their long-standing interest in Barella.

However, the Nerazzurri would prefer to send one or two players the other way as opposed to meeting Cagliari’s asking price of 45-50m.

Nonetheless, the broadcaster highlights the ‘good relationship’ between Beppe Marotta and Sardinians President Tommaso Giulini.

If a deal does not go through, the Beneamata could look to Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Kovacic is expected to leave Chelsea this summer due to their transfer ban and his loan from Real Madrid not including an option to buy.

The Croat spent two-and-a-half years at Inter between 2012 and 2015 and is not thought to have a future in Madrid.
