Inter will reportedly pounce for Gareth Bale if Real Madrid decide to part with the Welshman this summer.

According to the Independent, Madrid want to ‘reshape their attack’ and Bale is no longer considered unsellable.

Manchester United had long been backed as favourites to sign Bale, but the newspaper notes that they now have ‘close to zero interest’ in the 28-year-old due to his ‘age and cost’, plus the recent arrival of Alexis Sanchez.

Therefore, the ‘newly-wealthy’ Inter would be ‘the only club interested at the current prices’, the Nerazzurri having held an interest since his devastating performances against them for Tottenham Hotspur during the 2010-11 campaign.

However, the Beneamata are still having problems with Financial Fair Play, even after their lucrative takeover by Suning Group, which has also been hit by Chinese market restrictions.

Bale joined Madrid from Spurs in 2013 for a then-world record €100m and has gone on to score 81 goals in 182 appearances for Los Blancos, winning two Champions League and a League title.

However, his impact has been diluted by constant injuries, Marco Asensio and Isco establishing themselves and a purportedly-strained relationship with Coach Zinedine Zidane.
