Reports suggest Atalanta midfielder Bryan Cristante’s move to Roma is done, but it may have to wait until after July 1.

The Orobici activated their option to sign the 23-year-old outright from Benfica, but it was immediately thought he’d be sold on.

In recent weeks the Giallorossi have emerged as favourites for his signature, and Sky Italia is now reporting that a deal is basically done.

Atalanta have accepted a bid of around €30m, and all that remains to be discussed is the formula of the payment.

It’s likely the Lupi will take Cristante on a €5m loan for a season, with an obligation to buy for €25m.

The midfielder’s agent will also have to agree a contract with the capital club, but there has been a deal in principle for some time.

An official announcement may have to wait until after July 1 though, as Roma have Financial Fair Play obligations and the reporting period ends on June 30.
