Reja has changed his tactics recently, adopting a 4-3-3 formation with Senad Lulic – who scored today – out wide.
“The midfield was a little insecure at the start, so I tried to protect the defence, but now we can pull more strings in attack to set up great players like Keita and Lulic. With three midfielders who rotate positions, they are an important element of the team.
“Keita is a teenager, but he is improving all the time, starting to win back possession too and is strong in attack. He has technical quality, physical strength and can take players on one-on-one. The one thing I want him to do is get back on his feet, as sometimes after a foul he sits there for two or three minutes.”
Despite Lazio’s domination, Cagliari had the opportunity to equalise when Mauricio Pinilla fired a penalty wide.
“Considering all the chances we had, I don’t know what would’ve happened if that penalty had gone in. We might even have lost. I hope it teaches us that you’ve got to take your opportunities or you risk suffering and throwing points away.”
