Edy Reja prepares for a tricky trip to Palermo this evening and assures Lazio they can “walk with our heads held high” despite recent setbacks.

The Biancocelesti are struggling with an injury crisis and were beaten 3-1 at home on Thursday by Atletico Madrid in the Europa League.

“Perhaps we can get Andre Dias back in defence, but Marius Stankevicius can’t even walk. Senad Lulic and Lionel Scaloni are not centre-backs, so we’ll see if they can adapt,” explained the Coach.

“A three-man defence is an option, but I will only make my decision at the end. Tommaso Rocchi is unavailable, so either Emiliano Alfaro or Libor Kozak will play with Miroslav Klose.”

Despite this crisis and their Europa League slip, Lazio are still in third place going into tonight’s game.

“We are missing players, but the overall performances have been excellent compared to our rivals in the race. Our only defeat was in Genoa and we all know that match should not have gone ahead.

“I cannot help but compliment my squad, as we can walk with our heads held high.

“It’s a shame about the Europa League defeat, but if we are eliminated then it may well help our Serie A progress.”

There are reports Lazio have asked for next week’s Serie A game with Fiorentina to be moved from Sunday February 26 to Monday February 27.

This is because the team will only return from the trip to Madrid deep into the night on February 23, as kick-off is at 20.05 UK time, 21.05 local.
