Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis says Pepe Reina didn’t want to live in Naples, but the goalkeeper denies that.

The Partenopei have been criticised this season for not securing Reina on a permanent deal after his loan from Liverpool, but the patron insists that they tried.

“Last year we offered a big contract to Reina,” De Laurentiis told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“He preferred to go to Bayern [Munich] for economic and family reasons. His wife didn’t want to live in Naples.”

However, the Spanish shot-stopper then took to Twitter to refute those allegations.

“There has never been a family problem,” Reina wrote.

“My wife and I love Naples.”
