Pepe Reina admits “the doors are always open for Napoli” and he’s undecided about his Bayern Munich future.

The goalkeeper was only at the Stadio San Paolo for one season, but became a fan favourite and continues to cheer on his old club via social media.

“I always said that I’d leave the door open for Napoli, because we did so well there and I really love the city and club,” Reina told Radio CRC.

“I knew it wouldn’t be easy to get playing time with Manuel Neuer in front of me, but I am learning so much from him. He’s an extraordinary goalkeeper and also an incredible teammate.

“My future? We’ll see, I have another two years on my contract with Bayern, but we never know what will happen in football.

“I always said that I love to play, but in the summer I chose to join Bayern Munich because we can win many titles here.”

As Reina considers a Napoli return, Rafa Benitez is preparing a potential exit.

“I was his player, but I don’t know what he’ll do in future. For the good of Napoli, I hope he stays, but I am certain he’ll only make a decision after the next month, when everything will be at stake.”
