The Viola have never disguised their interest in Politano, but had until now been put off by the €35m asking price.

According to Sky Sport Italia last night, the offer had climbed to €30m and was open to negotiations.

Now Sport Mediaset and others claim talks are progressing positively, with a deal very close for €30m plus bonuses.

Inter already have his replacement lined up in the form of Rebic, who can leave Eintracht Frankfurt for approximately the same transfer fee.

However, Fiorentina can come out double winners from this deal, because Rebic is a former Viola player.

As part of his sale to Eintracht for €2m in 2017, the Tuscans are guaranteed 30-50 per cent of his future transfer fee, depending on the circumstances.
