There are mixed reports over a planned exchange between Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia and Sassuolo’s Francesco Acerbi.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the deal is practically done and will be announced over the next few days.

It would see Acerbi go to Inter for Ranocchia plus €5m.

However, Sky Sport Italia insist there is a huge obstacle in the shape of Ranocchia’s wages.

However, Sky Sport Italia insist there is a huge obstacle in the shape of Ranocchia’s wages.

Until just over a year ago, Ranocchia was captain of Inter, but fell so sharply down the pecking order that he was loaned to Sampdoria in January.

That spell did little to boost his confidence with a series of defensive howlers.

If this exchange is to go through, Inter will have to pay a large portion of Ranocchia’s wages, perhaps by loaning the 28-year-old with an option to buy.
