Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia is hoping that next season will see a revival of the Nerazzurri’s fortunes.

The 26-year-old also believes that it is imperative the club qualify for the Europa League in order to salvage their season this time around.

“It is a positive moment for me personally,” Ranocchia said to Sky Sport 24. “I’m in good shape, I hope to continue that way and to give Inter a hand in qualifying for Europe.

“It’s crucial we qualify, it’s the only goal we have and we absolutely must achieve it in order for us to build a good team for next season.

“A team like Inter should cannot allow itself to be out of Europe for two consecutive seasons.

“I’m hoping that next year will be the year of a rebirth for us. I want it to be the year that the club creates a group that can do well in both the League and in Europe.”

The player was then asked about whether he would sign a new contract at San Siro.

“I still have time, the contract doesn’t expire until 2015. We haven’t spoken about it yet because we are just thinking about getting into Europe at the moment.

“There is no great rush.”
