Nantes boss Claudio Ranieri claims his side “need a different player” to Wesley Sneijder, who has joined Ligue 1 rivals Nice.

Ranieri coached Sneijder at Inter during the 2011-12 campaign but passed up the opportunity to reunite with the midfielder at Nantes, and the Italian veteran took to a Press conference to explain why.

“I prefer a different type of player,” he was quoted as saying by ItaSportPress.

“I prefer a different type of player,” he was quoted as saying by ItaSportPress.

“Why? Because of the system we’re playing in. I know Sneijder well, he’s a great player, but I need a different type of player.

“I coached him at Inter, he’s a very technical player, I expect him to have a great season at Nice and he’s a good signing for them because he played in the Champions League.

“As for us, however, we have to grow gradually.”
