Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri describes why N’Golo Kante would be ‘an ideal purchase’ for Antonio Conte’s Inter from Chelsea.

It was Ranieri who turned Kante into a star when they won a fairy-tale Premier League title together at Leicester City.

The midfielder then made the move to Chelsea for €36m in 2016 and is now negotiating a Serie A switch for Inter.

“He’d be an ideal purchase, certainly for the Nerazzurri, but in general for Italian football too,” Ranieri told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Kante is like a perpetual motion machine, he never stops running. He’s generous, good at winning back the ball, but he also has quality, even if he’s not a creative midfielder by any means.

“It’s rare you see him misplace a pass, largely because he always maintains such concentration all the way through.”

Chelsea want €50m for the 29-year-old France international.
