Claudio Ranieri was far from happy with Inter’s victory over Lazio. “The only thing I liked about this performance was the result.”

The Nerazzurri flew into fourth place with tonight’s 2-1 win, their seventh on the trot, as Diego Milito and Giampaolo Pazzini fought back from a Tommaso Rocchi opener.

“The only thing I liked about this performance was the result. We practically did not step on to the field this evening,” moaned the Coach.

“Against Milan we had played well, while today we can only be thankful for the win. I think we cannot play worse than this, as the only thing that got us through was our character.

“Lazio created a thousand problems for us and we won thanks to two moments of magic from our champions, but we’ve got to do a lot better from here on in if we want to catch the top clubs.

“The defence made mistakes on Rocchi’s goal, but we know he can do these things and he deserves credit.”

Wesley Sneijder came on for the second half, as he is still recovering from two months on the treatment table.

“Sneijder is not yet 100 per cent fit, but he is recovering and becoming important for us again. He did well against Genoa in the Coppa Italia midweek and I introduced him straight after the break, as I didn’t like anything about the first half and hoped he’d change something.”
