“It was a difficult game, Crotone left the field with their heads held high,” Ranieri told Sky Sport Italia. “They fought for every ball and never allowed us to play our game.

“I have to praise my lads because they never gave up. They were able to wait in the first half.”

Fabio Quagliarella scored the winner after 52 minutes, after Ranieri had made some changes.

“In the second half, we changed some things,” Ranieri added. “Then it went better.”
