Rafael Cabral has thanked Rafa Benitez for his support during recovery from injury and promises to repay it on the pitch for Napoli.

The Brazil goalkeeper is back with the squad for pre-season this summer after missing the second half of last season with a ligament knee injury.

With Pepe Reina having returned to Liverpool and no-one else having arrived so far, the 24-year-old is in contention to start the season as No 1.

“I’m ready for the challenges of this year,” Rafael has told Il Mattino’s latest edition.

“Last year I played 11 games and the team remained unbeaten with me and I hope that this unbeaten run will last for a long time.

“The presence of Benitez during these months of rehabilitation in Brazil has been a constant, he was always close and followed my recovery step by step.

“I’m going to reciprocate the trust that the Coach has had in me.”
