Provedel, who has conceded four goals in two consecutive games, was in goal when Spezia held Fiorentina to a 2-2 draw last time too.

“Today’s result leaves a bitter taste in the mouth,” he told the club’s official website. “When you lead by two goals, I think you should always take the game home.

“But there’s also positives sides to it, there was the performance and the good game. We should have been more clinical, that’s true, but in any case, we had a great team in front of us and a point helps us in the table.”

Provedel arrived from Empoli on transfer deadline day and said he’s ‘happy’ at his new club and knows the team ‘must do something extraordinary’ to stay in Serie A.

“From the first day, I found a great group. I saw maximum willingness on the part of everyone,” he said. “They have all been available for the coach’s ideas and I’m really happy.

“For us, Serie A is very important, something we must honour until the end. Therefore, we must do something extraordinary to stay in this category.

“It’s even more important in this atypical season, in which there are no certainties.”
