Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has claimed ‘it’s right to resume’ the championship but has pointed out that the Rossoblu will come out of the pandemic affected and in financial difficulties.

Serie A has confirmed the resumption and today the Lega will assemble the clubs to vote on the different paths.

Preziosi looks forward to starting again but acknowledges that it will be a completely different experience for his players.

“It starts again. At the meeting tomorrow we will know everything and define everything,” he told TeleLombardia last night. “It’s right like that, also for the sporting merits on the pitch. It’s right that we reach the end.

“We have a schedule with eight home games, even if the home game advantage doesn’t exist anymore. It was strange at San Siro, without the fans.

“Players will also need to get used to being unaffected by this new atmosphere.”

Preziosi has praised the Rossoblu players for their response to the financial troubles at the club and revealed that the Grifoni will struggle after the forced break.

“I spoke to the players in Genoa today, we never had any argued about it and in 35 years I have had many.

“At Genoa, there has never been a case of wages. In fact, you never knew anything. Our relationship is based on understanding, we will find solutions.

“There’s the problem with Sky, the sponsors, the ticket office… We won’t come out of this in good shape, but we will reason for common interests.”

At the Marassi there are a host of loan deals and expiring contracts this June, and Preziosi hopes the FIGC will intervene and help the teams.

“The season will have to be prolonged, the FIGC must intervene with clear rules to allow everyone to finish the championship with full staff,” he added.

“Tomorrow, at the meeting, we will have a clear picture on the possibility of recovering Week 25. Inter have the Coppa Italia and can’t recover.

“I believe that the beginning is already positive, we play every three days and the Coppa Italia and games in hand must be addressed and embedded.

“We’ll also have a Plan D and Plan E in case of a stop. A possible stop must be regulated. It’s not ture that we always fight, everyone has a different position according to the position their team are in.

“It’s natural. I only say that we are a league with facets. It’s not easy putting them all together. I have always been for the resumption, in case of a stop, however, I don’t find sense in letting 10 teams play and 10 others not."
