Four days ago Italy’s 3-5-2 was questioned after the 2-2 draw with Bulgaria in Sofia, and victory against the Mediterranean minnows at the Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena is essential in a tricky group which also features the Czech Republic and Denmark.
“First we had to build, now we must confirm the result,” stated the Commisario Tecnico.
“4-3-1-2 can be a starting point to 4-3-3, but with this group of players now the formation is this. We have focused our ambition to give happiness, especially to those fans in Modena.”
Prandelli is confident that Bologna’s Alessandro Diamanti can give the team an extra creative spark.
“He is an atypical playmaker. I define it as a midfielder adept at playing behind the strikers, and in this position he can finally make the jump in quality.
“The players understand where they went wrong. I’m sure we’ll see another Italy tonight.”
