Cesare Prandelli admits the Euro 2012 draw wasn’t what he was looking for. “We wanted to avoid Giovanni Trapattoni.”

Italy were paired with Spain, Croatia and Trap’s Republic of Ireland in Group C.

“Spain are very strong and we will have to be mentally prepared when it comes to the opening game against them,” said the Azzurri Coach.

“We wanted to avoid Trapattoni. He immediately lowered the tension, as he said he wanted to come to Montecatini for the pre-tournament training camp and said he’ll change.”

There are doubts as to whether Italy will have their top stars at the tournament, as Antonio Cassano and Giuseppe Rossi are both out for six months after heart and knee surgery respectively.

“We hope to have Cassano and Rossi there.”

Prandelli also confirmed the Italy training camp will be in Krakow, Poland.
