Cesare Prandelli is expected to scrap Beppe Iachini’s 3-5-2 formation, moving Fiorentina to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 with Gaetano Castrovilli in a more advanced role.

Iachini was fired on Monday, with Prandelli coming in for his second stint on the Viola bench.

He is likely to immediately transform their tactics in a bid to make them a more effective attacking prospect, as well as protecting the defence.

He is likely to immediately transform their tactics in a bid to make them a more effective attacking prospect, as well as protecting the defence.

Prandelli spoke fairly recently on television as a pundit about the team and warned “Sofyan Amrabat is not a playmaker, while I trained Christian Kouame at Genoa and he is not a centre-forward.”

La Gazzetta dello Sport, Goal.com and others suggest he could go with a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 formation, pushing Castrovilli into a more advanced role behind the striker.

Franck Ribery and Jose Callejon would complete the trident supporting Dusan Vlahovic or Patrick Cutrone.

Amrabat could instead be partnered by Erick Pulgar in midfield, while Pol Lirola and Cristiano Biraghi are inevitably the full-backs.
