Cesare Prandelli’s return to Fiorentina seems imminent as according to Il Corriere Fiorentino La Viola will sack their coach Giuseppe Iachini today.

Fiorentina have eight points after seven Serie A games, La Viola pulled off an away 0-0 draw against Parma on Saturday night.

According to the report, the club’s board had thought about a return of Vincenzo Montella or a promotion of their Primavera coach Alberto Aquilani to replace Iachini but Prandelli is the leading candidate to take over with the current coach expected to be sacked today.

Prandelli had been in charge of Fiorentina from 2005 to 2010 leading the club to playing Champions League football. He won 119 games from 240 while in charge of La Viola.

Prandelli will reportedly join Fiorentina as an interim coach as the club want to bring in a bigger name in the summer with Maurizio Sarri and Luciano Spalletti who remain on the radars of the Tuscans.
