Italy national team boss Cesare Prandelli has asked for patience from fans after his side drew 1-1 with Netherlands last night.

A late Marco Verratti goal gave the Azzurri a draw in Amsterdam on Wednesday evening, but the 55-year-old has claimed that the youthful nature of the squad will mean inconsistent performances.

“The renewal of this team is slow,” he told ANSA. “But we will do great things.

“We must renew this squad and we are certainly on the right track. We have great potential, and that's exciting.

“I will be relying heavily on Massimiliano Allegri as he works with Mario Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy.

“Verratti meanwhile has the good fortune to work with Carlo Ancelotti – who is one of the best Coaches in the world.

“And with him, Marco can become a great player.”
