Cesare Prandelli insists Italy “will certainly have a great Euro 2012” and is “not worried” after a shock 1-0 defeat to the USA.

“It was undeserved, but with this spirit we will certainly have a great Euro 2012,” said the Coach.

“I liked the way they tried to overcome every difficulty. Obviously playing once every three months is tricky.

“We were more incisive after the break and raised the tempo, so yes it was an improvement.

“We did some interesting things, but the problem was we had the wrong timing when going on vertical lines, which is why there were so many offsides.”

It was an experimental line-up, as Sebastian Giovinco partnered Alessandro Matri and Fabio Borini received his senior Italy debut.

“Giovinco attacked in the one-on-one. Borini has grit, personality and is an interesting player.”

Prandelli was asked whether he was worried just 100 days from the start of the European Championships.

“Worried? Absolutely not.”
