Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli says Jose Mourinho's Cardgate was “nothing any other tactician hasn't done” and commented on the Serie A strike.

UEFA suspended Mourinho and fined his Real Madrid players after it was found he ‘ordered' them to receive second yellow cards for time-wasting, therefore clearing the disciplinary record for the knockout phase.

“Everyone does it and there's nothing strange about it,” insisted Prandelli of that incident against Ajax.

“I challenge anyone to say that haven't done something similar. Really, this is nothing any other tactician hasn't done.

“I got along well with Mourinho, as we understood each other right away, finding common interests. Above all, I found in him an innovative figure and Italy needed someone like him. He was one of the first to explain why he made certain decisions.”

Italy boss Prandelli also commented on the strike called by the Italian Players' Association (AIC) for the weekend of December 12.

“There is some concern, as there are people trying to find solutions,” he told Radio Sportiva.

“The players are part of a working environment that is changing. Rights are rights and the clubs have nothing to fear.

“We need some common sense and it would be good if everyone sent a calming signal without avoiding the issues.”
