Cesare Prandelli is confident it will be “the Italy of Euro 2012” against Armenia, kick-off 18.00 BST and had a warning for Mario Balotelli.

The World Cup qualifier in Yerevan is an early start due to the time difference in Armenia.

“I am absolutely certain that from tonight against Armenia the fans will again see the Italy of Euro 2012,” said Prandelli on RAI Sport.

Balotelli is a doubt after coming down with a fever, while Daniele De Rossi and Domenico Criscito are eager to shake off recent problems.

“I did not need to fire up the lads or motivate them, as they were already charged up by themselves with particularly intense training sessions.

“I have always said the Azzurri jersey has that power to regenerate players who have been criticised.”

Prandelli did, however, have a warning for Manchester City forward Balotelli.

“He is a player who has to prove every day what he is worth. In a certain sense, the exams never end for him.”
