Cesare Prandelli assured Giuseppe Rossi Italy “are waiting for you” after his latest knee injury.

“Forza Giuseppe, we are waiting for you,” said Azzurri Coach Prandelli.

“He has such immense strength and character, he knows full well how much we admire him.”

The Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”13″>Fiorentina striker limped off during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Livorno and today tests confirmed a second degree lesion to the collateral medial ligament in his right knee.

It is not as serious as first feared, as there were concerns he might’ve damaged the same anterior cruciate ligament that had already snapped twice, keeping him out of action for two years.

Initial reports suggest Rossi will be sidelined for three months, but more tests are needed with a specialist in America.

Although three months out represent a real blow, it should not rule him out of Italy’s World Cup campaign.
