“I am truly happy to be here. It’s an honour for me to wear the Sampdoria shirt,” Praet told Samp TV.

“I am at a big club and will give all of myself for this team and the fans. I hope to do well in Serie A, as I want to repay the faith of the club.

“I spoke to both Sebastien De Maio and Stefano Okaka, who both spoke highly of Sampdoria and the city of Genoa. I hope to make the difference here and help Sampdoria qualify for the Europa League.

“My favourite player is Andre Iniesta. I can play both in midfield and as a trequartista to send my teammates clear on goals.”
