Udinese owner Gianpaolo Pozzo says Cyril Thereau was sold to Fiorentina due to his “insufferable” behaviour.

The striker joined the Viola on transfer deadline day, with Maxi Lopez arriving from Fiorentina to replace him.

“It always comes down to the last minute, it’s a function of how the transfer market works,” Pozzo explained to Telefriuli.

“We’re talking about trying to make plans in particular and difficult situations. In the end it was understood that Thereau was insufferable and wouldn’t even come back into the Coach’s plans.

“As a result he [Gigi Del Neri] wanted a replacement, and with Maxi Lopez we found one who corresponded to what the Coach wanted.”
