Giampaolo Pozzo has reiterated Francesco Guidolin’s remark that Udinese are now safe, and called on the club to turn around their season.

The Zebrette picked up a 1-0 win over Catania on Monday night to move 13 points clear of the dropzone and satisfy their Coach and also their President.

“I believe that 38 points are sufficient, with this margin we can talk about safety,” Pozzo has considered post-match.

“Now we will turn the page, this has been a season of suffering and now we are most calm and hope to see the real Udinese.

“We are not used to fighting with the knife between our teeth. There remain seven games to redeem a disappointing season. But I repeat that we are an ambitious club, with the new stadium project and other initiatives, we will try to think bigger.”

Udinese were made to work for the result and once more relied on goalkeeper Simone Scuffet to see it out.

“We have an excellent young goalkeeper who performs miracles, but is also lucky because even when it goes wrong, it ends up alright.

“Here we suffered in defence but could also have scored the second or third goal but for mistakes we do not usually make.

“We are happy for the three points and now we will try to see a more spectacular and entertaining football.

“Catania are a bit like Granada, they play well but have difficulties when they must be held from the goal. We covered the area with great timing, the defence was awake and attentive.”
