Bologna defender Daniele Portanova has described his 'anger' at being banned for four months, as he returns to the field this weekend.

The 33-year-old was charged for failing to report an incident of match-fixing back in 2010 in game between Bologna and Bari.

And the former Siena man has told of his anguish whilst being forced to sit on the sidelines since the start of the season.

And the former Siena man has told of his anguish whilst being forced to sit on the sidelines since the start of the season.

“I have lived with so much anger for the last four months,” he told reporters. “That's what happens when you know you're innocent.

“I believe there were no grounds to denounce me and I hope that such incidents do not happen again.

“I want to thank all those who were close to me in recent months, and it is for them that I will put all my efforts from now on.”
