Matteo Politano is pushing to leave Napoli and his agent has reportedly met Valencia with the Partenopei waiting to sell one of their strikers before signing Gerard Deulofeu from Udinese.

The Italy international is unhappy under Luciano Spalletti and wants to leave the Stadio Maradona in the summer. His agent has recently confirmed that Politano, a former Inter winger, doesn’t feel trusted by the club.

According to Calciomercato.com, Politano’s representative has recently met Valencia, with his former coach Gennaro Gattuso eager to reunite with the 28-year-old. Napoli want at least €15-20m for the winger but could also agree to loan the player, including an obligation to buy in the deal.

According to the report, the Partenopei will announce Khvicha Kvaratskhelia next week and have already reached an agreement with Udinese to get Deulofeu for circa €15m. However, they first need to sell one of their strikers, so they will finalise the transfer as soon as Politano or Dries Mertens leave.

  1. Wonder why Italy struggles to field a competitive National Team?

Why are clubs going to Georgia of all places for a footballer?

Until the Lega Calcio steps in and institutes a Quota, this will continue to happen.
