According to Sky Sport Italia, the deal has been essentially done and the Italy international could have his medical on Saturday.
It cannot be done before that because Politano is currently on honeymoon.
The Nerazzurri would hand over €7m for a one-year loan with option to buy at the end of the season for another €20m.

Along with that, Sassuolo would also get youth team players Odgaard and Adorante, who together are valued at €7m.
Odgaard was also targeted by Atalanta and Bologna and has been an absolute sensation in the Inter Primavera youth team.
It’s reported that Inter would try to keep a buy-back clause on the 19-year-old Dane, who scored 15 goals with five assists in 29 competitive games this season.
That included six in six UEFA Youth League matches.
