Andrea Poli is happy to have scored his first goal for Inter against Genoa – city rivals of the club that still own him.

The former Italian Under-21 international joined the Nerazzurri on loan from Sampdoria during the summer. He scored in last night’s 2-1 win over the Grifone in the Italian Cup.

“It’s pleasing to score against Genoa,” he told Inter Channel after the Coppa tie at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“However, for now, I’m only and exclusively thinking about Inter right now.”

The 22-year-old has struggled to feature this term as his fitness issues have restricted him to just two Serie A appearances.

“I’m grateful to everyone for their compliments. It was a good exchange between Obi and myself, a really nice move,” he continued.

“I was hoping we would win an important game tonight, then obviously it’s nice to score – especially today because of the thrill of doing it in front of our home fans.”
