Parma players released a statement reassuring fans after news the club will be docked points for financial irregularities.

The Ducali confessed they had missed the November 15 deadline to pay outstanding taxes and wages, covering only one of the three months in question.

This means Parma will be docked at least one point during the current Serie A campaign and find themselves in a difficult situation going forward.

“At this complicated moment for Parma, the team feels the need to stay in silence, albeit aware that the strongest responses in sport must always be given on the pitch,” read today’s statement from the squad.

“Despite the numerous difficulties and the discouraging position in the table, the locker room still believes it can change the course of a season that started in the worst way possible.

“For this we need more than ever the support of all those who care about the Crociati. We will do everything to honour this jersey in every game, aware that keeping the tradition of this club at the top and making the fans proud is a moral duty even before a sporting objective.

“The effort put in to emerge from this situation will be the maximum: no point taken away will ever remove the team’s motivation and dedication.

“It will be a long and uphill struggle, but it can be done: the most tiring challenges, once completed, are also the most gratifying.”
