Michel Platini has praised former club Juventus for winning the title – but warned that Champions League glory may still be some years away.
“I’m neutral in terms that I am the President of UEFA, but I do have a heart,” Platini told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I have to be happy for Juventus. They deserved the championship and I applaud them for their achievement.”
Platini won the European Cup as a player during his five years in Turin and the Bianconeri will return to the competition next term.
“Winning in Europe is not the same as winning at home,” the former France international continued.
“I honestly don’t think that the Champions League can arrive tomorrow, the side still needs time to grow.
“This season, without any European commitments, it was easier for them to just concentrate on one objective.”
