Roma received a boost this morning when David Pizarro returned to train with the group for the first time since Christmas.

The 31-year-old midfielder has been suffering repeatedly with a knee complaint.

He decided to stay in Chile rather than return for winter training in order to recuperate better.

Pizarro's decision to do so without the club's permission initially drew criticism.

However, a physiotherapist was eventually sent out to help things along.

Pizarro has made just 10 starting appearances.
