Andrea Pirlo spoke of his joy at renewing the contract with Juventus for two years and meeting Juninho Pernambucano.

Today Juventus announced they have officially extended Pirlo’s contract with the club until June 2016.

“I am very happy to have renewed my contract for another two years with Juventus. I hope to spend the next two years the same way as the last three,” he said in a Press conference from Italy’s World Cup training camp.

“It was my choice to continue with Juventus, as it is a successful club aiming to always improve and those are my objectives too.”

An Argentine journalist asked whether Pirlo would’ve called up Carlos Tevez for the World Cup.

“If I were Coach of Argentina, I would’ve certainly called Tevez based on what he did with Juventus this season.

“Would I advise him on his free kicks? Yes, not to bother taking them! There isn’t room…”

Juninho Pernambucano visited Italy’s training camp today, a meeting of two of football’s greatest free kick specialists.

“He was very nice and came to meet me, as I wrote about him in my book. He brought his jersey and was very happy to meet me and I felt the same way to meet him, so that was wonderful.

“He brought me a Brazil shirt with my name on it and also his Vasco da Gama jersey with the number 8.

“I wrote in my book that I wanted to set a new record for free kicks scored in Serie A. I’m not sure exactly how many I require to achieve that target, I think three or four, but I have another two years to reach it.”
