Having secured their eighth win in their last 11 Serie A matches, it means the Florenceside stay right in the race for Europa League qualification.

“We conceded two goals in a few minutes. We knew we had to stay in the match with great attention, but we did well to pull back a result that seemed to be lost,” Pioli reflected.

“We still have the chance to finish the season well. We lost a little bit of our balance, but Genoa played well. They have quality.

“We need to think about the next game in order to make Milan-Fiorentina an important last match.”

Pioli dedicated Fiorentina’s improvement to Davide Astori, who tragically passed away earlier in the season prior to the Viola’s scheduled match at Udinese.

“There has been a lot of hard work, but a lot of it was transmitted to us and left to us by Davide Astori.

“The work we have done has allowed us to become a true team. The boys have done very well to believe, especially during difficult moments.

“We started the season badly, but even then we still believed in our work.

“The club signed good players, with potential and great motivation. The quality is there and everyone wants to give their best every day.”
