Stefano Pioli believes his Inter “have the right attitude” but “there are situations where we have to be more careful”.

The Nerazzurri have won their last seven matches in a row in all competitions, reigniting hope that they can qualify for the Champions League this season.

“The squad has the right attitude,” Pioli said in his Press conference ahead of Sunday’s Palermo game.

“We know the work we’re doing, but also that we’ve suffered for some of the wins. We have to be ready on Sunday.

“Lately though we’ve paid a lot for the few chances we’ve given away. We’re giving less and less away to our opponents, so if you concede fewer goals you can win.

“We’re working, and we need to make sure we keep growing. There are situations where we have to be more careful.

“I’m convinced that to work hard and work well you have to believe in the players and their qualities. I’m also experienced enough to know that the sums will be done on May 28.

“Now we have to stay focused and give ourselves a chance of winning every game.”

Roberto Gagliardini has joined the Beneamata from Atalanta and started both games for which he’s been available.

“What’s been the most impressive thing about him? Definitely the calmness and simplicity with which he’s integrated. He’s shown great personality and understood our concepts.

“He’s given us what we were expecting, this is what we bought him for. We’ll see if he plays on Sunday, we expended a lot of energy in the last two games.

“I’ll need to make sure I choose well, because the team must maintain its intensity.”

The former Lazio Coach was also asked about Ivan Perisic, who has arguably been Inter’s star man in the last four games.

“I’ve said and I’ll repeat, you have to expect a lot from great players,” Pioli said.

“Ivan has all the qualities to be a decisive player and right now he’s doing that. He, like all the squad, must have the attitude, the desire and the generosity to help us out.”
