Lazio Coach Stefano Pioli admits his side has been below-par in defeats to Juventus and Empoli.

The Biancocelesti have lost two games in a row, going down 2-1 to Empoli before the international break and being thumped 3-0 by Juve on Saturday night.

The defeats have seen the Aquile slip three points below Napoli in the race for the lucrative Champions League spot which is a reward for a third place finish, and Pioli concedes that his team have not been at their best.

“It’s clear that we were missing something in the last two games,” Pioli admitted in a Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Chievo.

“We lacked focus and determination against Empoli, and we didn’t have the right fluidity against Juventus.

“Defeats are bad, but they can also be very useful if you understand why they’re happening and where you’re making mistakes.

“This week the team is going out there with a better idea of what to do and what not to do, that’s very important.

“Against Empoli our downfall wasn’t a lack of humility, but rather a lack of attention.

“But even if we’re spending this Press conference talking about the last two games it doesn’t mean that we’re not on the right track.

“The team now has a better idea of what to do and what I expect in tomorrow’s game.

“Up to the Empoli game we did a lot of good things which helped us move up the table.

“We haven’t won in the last two games, and against Juve we allowed them far too much, especially given the quality they have.

“That’s the past, but we want to change the future.

“We can’t change the result of the recent games, but we can definitely do better, starting tomorrow.”
