Stefano Pioli says he was impressed by Manchester United's derby win against Manchester City and explains why the Old Trafford clash is ‘not like a final.’

"You have to be a team in both phases. If we are more compact and shorter, we can better both the defensive and the offensive phase,” Pioli said at a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League meeting with Manchester United.

"It's not like a final. There are many clubs in the race. It's a prestigious game between two historical clubs with a great past. We are working to get back to winning and to fulfil our dreams,” the coach continued.

"I was very impressed. United deservedly won against a fantastic team that hadn't lost for 20 or 21 games. We studied that game."

Diogo Dalo twill meet his former club.

"We are happy with his development," Pioli said.

"It's too early to talk about the future, we are focused on the next games and I am not the one who should talk about these things."

Would he be satisfied with a draw?

"Certain games must be played with great commitment and respect. A positive result tomorrow would give us motivation for the second leg.

"The path is still long. We need to face it with enthusiasm."
