Stefano Pioli insists no Inter player has disappointed him so far –  “I’m happy to Coach a great group”.

The Nerazzurri were expected to challenge for the Scudetto this season, but are already 14 points off the top and Frank de Boer was sacked as Coach.

“I’m happy to Coach a great group and I expect a lot from everyone,” Pioli said in his Press conference ahead of Sunday’s Sassuolo game.

“If we start talking about specific players then we’ll be focused on individuals and not the goals of the team.

“Ivan Perisic? I expect a lot from Perisic, because he has huge potential and it’s right to expect the best. I’m betting a lot on him, just like the others.

“Then I have to make choices based on what I see during the week.

“Ever Banega? He’s a serious professional, we’re trying to find the best solutions together.”

Pioli then explained the areas in which he feels the Beneamata need to improve.

“There are a lot of things we need to improve: our speed in using the ball, our movement without the ball and our organisation when we don’t have it.

“I’ve seen a lot of positives such as the desire to make themselves available and give their best. We need to find the consistency which will allow us to move up the table.

“We have to face every opponent in the same way, we’ll have a lot of fans with us at Sassuolo. We had the wrong approach at Napoli, but only there. We’re Inter and we always play to win.

“We respect Sassuolo, and they have a good Coach [Eusebio Di Francesco] but we have confidence in ourselves.

“Sunday against Sassuolo will be important, then we’ll think of the next game. We haven’t won three games in a row, and we want to achieve that.”

It was suggested yesterday that the Coach wants a defensive midfielder, as Gary Medel will be moved into a back-three when he returns from injury.

“We’re thinking about getting him back, he has important personality,” Pioli confirmed.

“Then the fact he can play two roles can only be an advantage to be exploited. Against Milan we did well with a four-man defence, I like a team which can change system and I like having versatile players.

“We’ll make our evaluations in January to improve.”
