Stefano Pioli explains why Tiemoue Bakayoko gets the nod in midfield for Milan against Sassuolo today and how to neutralise the Neroverdi’s possession football.
It kicks off at San Siro at 14.00 GMT.
This is the first start of the season in Serie A for Tiemoue Bakayoko, who returned to the club after a different loan spell from Chelsea to Napoli.
“He is starting because I really liked the way he played as a substitute against Atletico Madrid,” Pioli told DAZN.
“Bakayoko has found fitness now and is in good shape. He needed a little time to understand some situations he wasn’t quite accustomed to.
“He’s a good player, I am sure he’ll be ready.”
Sassuolo are one of the only two teams in Serie A, along with fellow leaders Napoli, with a larger average share of possession this season.
“When we have the ball, we will try to be attacking and positive. Sassuolo are very good at possession football, so we must try to cause them problems and make it tricky for them to pass it cleanly.”
