Coach Stefano Pioli says Felipe Anderson’s struggles are down to the whole Lazio team.

The Brazilian midfielder was the Biancocelesti’s key man in the second half of last season, with 10 goals and seven assists in 21 Serie A games as his side secured third place.

However, in 23 League appearances this season, the 22-year-old has five goals and just two assists, but the Aquile boss says it’s not just down to Anderson.

“Last year he got outstanding results,” Pioli said in his Press conference ahead of the Verona game.

“I don’t want to speak about last year, it’s normal to make comparisons but it’s wrong. The whole context allowed him to perform in a certain way, all the components.

“If he’s not expressing himself at the same level as last season then it’s his fault, but perhaps also the others.”

Pioli then gave an update on Lazio’s injured stars.

“Antonio Candreva has been training well, he’s got over the injury against Napoli. He’s available.

“Lucas Biglia? He has recovered, he’ll play. He has no ankle problems and there’s no risk. He needs to play, he has to get match sharpness.”
