Livorno goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio spoke of his shock at being punched by an angry fan after relegation.
The shot-stopper, who is on loan from Juventus, made a costly error when fumbling a cross to allow Lanciano’s equaliser in the final round of the Serie B season.
He was walking to his vehicle in the car park, accompanied by his parents, when a hooligan accosted them and punched Pinsoglio in the eye.
“The hospital said I need three days of rest for the bruising to the eye, but the worst thing was that it happened in front of my family. My mother was crying,” Pinsoglio told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It’s not right. The gesture in itself was unjustifiable, but to experience that in front of my parents was simply shocking.
“I didn’t deserve that. Everyone makes mistakes in their work, but they don’t expect to get punched by clients.
“I’m sorry, but I couldn’t just forgive him, so I am pressing charges. I take responsibility and pay for my mistakes, so he should take responsibility for his.”
